The bakery has doubled its size over the last year and features made-from-
scratch custom cakes, cookies and cupcakes, along with new offerings!

Sweet C’s bakery in downtown Palatine has been featuring delicious and delectable treats, including custom-designed cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more – since 2015. Over the last year, the boutique bakery at 10 N. Bothwell Street has doubled its size by expanding into the neighboring storefront and has many new sweet offerings for area residents to enjoy. The business is currently celebrating its 5-year anniversary this month!

Sweet C's Bakery-- expansionOwner Celia Kallenborn grew up around small business; Mexico Uno – located just steps away from the bakery on Brockway Street, was founded by her father and has been in operation for more than 30 years.

“We’ve been very fortunate that the bakery has continued to flourish; I credit my experiences working with my family’s business in teaching me commitment to quality and customer service so that a business can [continue to] thrive,” Kallenborn said. “Everything we create at Sweet C’s is made from scratch with only the finest ingredients, and people appreciate the difference compared to store bought.” New offerings include Lavazza coffee selections, such as espresso, lattes, mochas and hot chocolate. The bakery also serves cold brew and nitro brew – which Kallenborn says have become increasingly popular with her customers.

“Now that we have plenty of seating, people will come in during the mornings to enjoy a coffee drink, along with a scone or muffin,” Kallenborn said. “We also have a separate evening crowd that likes a sweet treat after dinner.”

Kallenborn added that the new space makes the location cozier and more inviting. Free wifi is also available for those who need to connect to the internet. Sweet C’s is kid-friendly and has books and games available for the little ones to peruse. Speaking of kid-friendly, Sweet C’s now hosts kids’ parties for up to 10 children (minimum age is 6 years) that can decorate cupcakes or cookies as their activity. Children 12 and older can cake decorating parties, all of which can be done in their new decorating room. Classes for adults are also available. The bakery has become the northwest suburban go-to for custom decorated sweet treats for all holidays and other milestone events (birthdays, anniversaries, baby reveal parties and more) in addition to other gatherings such as BBQs and a variety of social events. With St. Patrick’s Day and Easter coming up soon, orders are already coming in for holiday-themed decorated cakes, cookies and cupcakes.

Favorites on the menu include chimney cakes, also known as kurtos, that are fresh baked per order, as well as the popular brownie sundaes. Outdoor seating will soon be available for the first time since the bakery opened, and look for Sweet C’s coffee and other treats at the outdoor Farmers’ Market (opening the first Saturday in May), as well as at Hometown Fest in July and Palatine Street Fest in late August.
